Samuel + Kristyn's Wedding Album l Hudson Valley, New York Wedding Photographer

When I imagined  dreamed working as a photographer I did not picture myself designing albums. In fact, a lot of photographers outsource this part of their work. By now, I have designed a couple and now that I have attended workshops and study the art of creating an album, I really enjoy doing it. It feels like creating the story book of a very special day and it’s wonderful to see it come to live. On this digital age were we are all taking photos with iPhones and never get to see a single print, there is still something powerful and special about been able to touch and feel photographs in your own hands.

Here is an example of the design layout of the Wedding Album.

Mommy Time

I remember getting my first smart phone only a  year ago. I held off for a long time because I just did not see the need to spend all my time attached to a phone like everyone else.  Once I decided to start my own business, I realized how much I need it to stay connected  and I was so excited at the prospect of being able to work remotely.  Not being tied to my computer all day waiting for emails to come through.  Fast forward a year later I’ve found that I have become a bit addicted of my iPhone.  And I have begun to resent it.
I recently read an article that said to think of play time as an investment in your children.  It helps to develop your child’s confidence by dropping what you are doing and just playing with them.  It shows them that what they are doing is important. My husband is great at this, he could just sit there and play with David for hours without getting distracted. Me on the other hand I can’t stand to play cars or trains.  I just keep thinking I have laundry to do, dinner to cook, things to clean, email to answer.  I am sad to admit that nearly every single time David asks me to play I start to play with him and five minutes later I have my iPhone out checking my email.
Now I'm starting to realize how important is to manage my time, because my son will be young only for so long and I don’t want him to remember me always looking at my phone, computer or running around cleaning.  What am I going to do about it?  For starters I'm blocking specific times during the day to do follow up on email, facebook and anything else.  When David asks me to play, I will play.  Laundry can wait.  Emails can wait.  I am going to enjoy this time that he wants me to play with him.  Because it wont be long when I'll be begging him to give me some attention.
